Well, if you want to try a different kind of brunch, why not try a Thai Buffet Brunch? On Sundays from Noon till 3 pm, P.S. Bankok on Clark has an unbelievable brunch (costs around $13.50/person, I think). Their appertizers alone occupies one whole row! Even if you have people who can't have hot, spicy food, they'll find something they'll like or be able to eat since there's so many to choose from, including things from the dessert table.

P.S. Bankok is on Clark, about 4 blocks south of Wrigley Field. Good luck!

Sorry about being late with this response, but I believe the place the Reader was talking about is Fruit de Mer. It's in Wicker Park at 1942 West Division. They just got a smashing write up in Chicago Magazine.

On Sundays they have a Jazz Brunch that costs $8.95 per person. The menu is limited to made-to-order omlettes, potatoes, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit and bagels. The ingredient choices for the omIettes might include carwfish, shrimp, blue cheese or anduille (sp?) sausage. It varies every week and sometimes by the hour!

It's not the intimate kind of place you're trying to avoid. In fact, on Sundays, it can get pretty noisy. They also have some tables outside for those that prefer al fresco.

Small secret---- They don't have a liquor license yet, so they have complimentary Mimosas (sp?) with brunch.

The hours are from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

I hope this helps for next time!
