There're a lot of restaurants in Chinatown- some good, some bad. IIRC, the best places I've been there were "Seven Treasure" and Evergreen.

Take a look at the list of Chinatown restaurants at:

Tough order to fill... does it have to be Chinese food?

After many years of living in the Orient, my vote goes ONLY to Phoenix in China town (Chicago).

It is truly outstanding and the variety and quality are unmatched in the Western World!

Good Eating!

I like Hong Min so much that it's the only Chinese restaurant I've eaten at in Chicago for two years now. I spent a few weeks in China and Taiwan one summer, long enough to appreciate at least what happened to Mandarin cuisine in the process of Americanization. Hong Min has some of both -- but they also use Chinese broccoli, they serve tea, the menu has no tassle, and the hot and sour soup kicks ass!

The chinatown restaurant list on the website is unfortunately outdated.

A suggestion for one restaurant we have enjoyed--Joy Yee's Noodle Shop, at 2159-A South China Place (this is the new "Chinatown Square development along Archer).

Not fancy, no booze, but excellent variety of food that actually tastes different from dish to dish.
