Zealous is about two blocks north of the York Theater on York Road. We haven't eaten there, but it always draws favorable comment in the Tribune. We had a excellent Mexican meal at Cafe Las Belles Artes, but it's in the same $$ class as Zealous. It's just west of York Road on a street that is one block south of the tracks.

I noticed some people recommending zealous, I've eaten there and I cannot recommend it. Quite expensive, not terribly good. Uneven at best: what I had was good, what my girlfriend had was bad. And for the money, everything should be good.

I moved into Elmhurst about 6 months ago and have been terribly disappointed in the restaurant selection. I moved from Oak Park which seems to have a much better selection and is close to the city with of course the best selection.

You could try the Zarrostra grill in the Oakbrook shopping center, it's only about 10-15 minutes from Elmhurst and I've been quite happy with the food the times I've been there. In the same shopping center there are of course the Lettuce Entertain You/Melman places, Maggiano's Little Italy and Papagus, but I tend to shy away from the Lettuce Entertain You places.

I've been to Zarrosta once and Maggiano's twice.

My girlfriend and I both found Zarrosta's food to be unremarkable. I had some sort of variety platter with chicken, fish, and steak or something.. it was boring, except for the fish which was spicy yet inedible. The service at Zarrosta's, however, was pretty good.

On the other hand, went to Maggiano's in a group of 3 once and in a group of 4 once, the whole group was happy with service and food both times. I don't remember if the place is pricey -- but it seems to be a good bet.

Still thinking about trying Baisi Thai, speaking of mall cuisine.

Just a couple more data points for you..
