They were closed for a really long time remodeling. They have come back better than ever. Now there is a separate dining area for non-smokers, with a large great Chicago original painting on the wall. They are still a 24 hour diner. Not many of these left in the city. Breakfast served 24 hrs. Prices for all meals are from 1.99- 8.99 with most of the meals in the 4-5 dollar range. While closed the owner kept his waitstaff employed during the reconstruction so many of them came back. Lots of the customers are known by first name, as are the waitstaff. I had the turkey burger, which was great. There's free parking just North of the building. Here's my photos of the place...check out the artwork: http://www.enteract.com/~kenji/eats/whitepalace/ White Palace Grill 1159 S.
