Other popular places include the Pump Room, Charlie Trotter's and Lawry's. For Chicago style pizza, you should try either Gino's (at Superior and Michigan) or Pizza Uno (at Ontario west of Michigan Avenue).

Please post the results of your trip and dining experiences.

Call me crazy, but I liked Due.

Another big hit with me: there is a Polish restaurant (on N. Milwaukee, in the Polish neighborhood) that has a huge buffet every afternoon and evening. Lunch is $4.25 and dinner is $4.75!

Unfortunately, the full name escapes me. Czerny something-or-other. Has a big red apple on the sign.

Our annual forays to Chicago, usually for the National Restaurant Show alway include a stop at some of the small intimate places that abound in big cities. My personal favorite is Albert's Cafe and Patisserie 52 W Elm (A couple of blocks west of Michigan Ave - north of the river). Excellent meals and even better dessert. Reminds me of the Washington St Bar and Grill in your North Beach area. Arnie's (Morton's everywhere else) is good for steak. Gino's East for pizza. Third Coast on N. Dearborn for breakfast. Brasserie Jo (W. Hubbard) for dining with a little style. The list goes on and on and on. Just walk around and smell, you will find the good stuff. Richard Moreland

Eat first if you are going to Trotter's. From what I've heard, the
food is beautiful but even for a hardcore foodie, it is not filling...
