We went there last Saturday. During the day, the party kept growing; first eleven, then twelve, then fourteen. The staff was really cool about the changes. We ordered roti canii for the appetizer--it was an instant hit. Wafer-thin pancakes served up with a chicken curry. They had to deliver the orders one at a time; perhaps they need more crepe pans in the kitchen for large parties. With fourteen of us, we were able to sample a good portion of the 150+ items on the menu. The Buddhist Yam Pot was a big favorite; the Redang dishes took a while but were well worth the wait. The limitation on beer and wine offerings were the only drawback; only Tsiang Tao and Heneiken, and Inglenook Chablis. The decor is, well, puzzling, and the service was somewhat mediocre. But the excellent food makes up for that.

Thanks for turning us on to Penang
As someone born and raised in Singapore, just across a very strait from Malaysia, I can vouch for the authenticity of Penang's offerings. It's just about as close as you can get to cuisine from Singapore and Malaysia, although the real thing is of course, one up. There's just nowhere else in the world to find the same type of cuisine.
