Chicago seems to have an abnormally large number of "drinkable" coffee sources. I haven't been dissappointed by the following: 1) Steep & Brew --originates from Madison, WI. Good selection and uniformly fresh. 2)Chalet. A local cheese, coffee, snack shop. Usually attached to Gold Standard Liquors. Locations in Hyde Park and Lakeview. Good French Roast. 3) One of the Starbucks that you seem to see on every corner. Too expensive for my tastes--though the Cafe Misto is a fairly good buy, I can make a better and much cheaper approximation at work. john SPSS
