Spruce Review - For Trillium

I noticed that Trillium asked for recommendations about Spruce and Blue ??? (the restaurant that Michael Jordon is an investor in). I caught this belatedly but had dinner at Spruce tonight. I haven't eaten at the other, newer restaurant but I had a wonderful dinner at Spruce. I know Trillium decided to go to the newer restaurant but I highly recommend Spruce. The madeira glazed sweetbreads with baby onions and stewed fruit was yummy as was the tequila cured salmon with avocado mousse as appetizers. The veal main course was superb as were the few bites I managed from one of my friends suckling pig. I had to play dueling forks to get some of the pork but it was worth it ;-). The desserts were quite good although I took someone's recommendation to try the bread pudding and, frankly, it was a huge disappointment. I greatly preferred my friends desserts and make a much better bread pudding myself. My four companions were equally delighted with their meals. Chef Luce is, in fact, departing on Saturday but the sous chef for the last year who has previously worked at Auriole and Grammercy Tavern in NYC seems more than capable to follow on.
