One problem is that many places with outdoor seating are actually very unpleasent. I mean sitting outside right next to a busy highway doesn't strike me as fun.

One place I really like is Emillio's Meson Sabika in Naperville. The outside patio is far enough away from the road so traffic noise isn't a big problem. And the grounds & garden are very nice.

And the best part of all is the food!

This isn't in the western suburbs, nor does it have any great view or ambience, but the Brown Dog Tavern has a patio, and the great thing is that I can bring my dogs, too. They serve water to the dogs in a special dog bowl, and there's treats for them, too. The human food is pretty good as well. A bit pricey for what it is.

I think the Brown Dog went out of business recently.

All right. Another place I like in the Western 'burbs if Weinkeller in Westmont. They don't really have a patio, but a beer garden. But its far from the traffic noise of Ogden, and I'm really a fan of their beers.

Its off of Ogden, behind a car dealer. Sorry I don't have the exact address. They should be in the phone book. They also have a pretty decent German menu.
