If you ever want a real old time bar burger, there is this place down in Chicago Heights (aka, da Heights) called Bob and Claires. Back in the day, when you were old enough to put your money on the bar (or tall enough), you were old enough to drink. This was the type of place you would go to bet on High School basketball. No one gave a damn about the pros. Given the current MADD state of affairs, they are probably a bit more circumspect about things, but a burger and a beer is still about five bucks. Whenever I have to be down that way, I still stop in. Cliff

old bars and burgers
There's a place called "Brandt's Little Cafe" on NW Highway & I think Quentin Road in Palatine that used to make the greatest cheeseburger imaginable (everything else was great too). I haven't been there in years but they're still there.

Jimmy's at 55th and Woodlawn still serves some darn good burgers with your favorite pint. It's pretty much the same as before. Never been to Hamilton's. -Chad Kenji wrote: > > Pj wrote: > > > Coming back to Chicago for a visit. Is Jimmy's at 55th. and Woodlawn > > and Hamilton's on N. Broadway still open.
