For Italian in Oak Brook, I like Maggiano's (though having a few of them around about kinda makes them a chain) in the Oak Brook shopping center. Across the street, at 1415 West 22nd Street, is Tuscany. Phone there is (630)990-1993. Very tasty food. There might be 2-3 of them, making it technically a chain establishment too, I guess. My only negative comment on them is that on a couple of my visits, they seemed to have a problem with the concept of a Non-Smoking Area. It's been over a year since I've been there, so call first to make sure they're still in business.

You didn't mention Greek cuisine, but when I last looked, there was about to be a Papagus Greek Taverna (Phone: (630)472-9800) in the Oak Brook shopping center. I don't believe I've eaten there, but I've eaten at the Papagus downtown. Quite yummy! It's part of one of the big restaurant empires (same as Maggiano's, I believe).

Of course, none of these meet my definition of "quaint". But, then again, I can't think of *anything* in Oak Brook that's "quaint".

They *are* a chain: Maggiano's *and* Papagus are both part of the Lettuce Entertain You chain.

And yes, both of them are pretty good choices, *if* you can get in (they get crowded on weekends, so reservations are essential).

Quaint? In Oakbrook? Fat chance. What you'll get is a bunch of yuppie restaurants. And if you move out of Oakbrook, you end up in Suburbian DuPage, where all restaurants seem to fall in one of three categories:
1) yuppie
2) chain
3) "family dining", which translates to "diner"

Sure, there's good food to be found in all three categories, but nothing I'd call "quaint".
