Try PS Bangkok, just north of the Lincoln-Halsted-Fullerton intersection. This was recommended to me by a fellow from Booksellers Row, and is extremely good. Also, the green curry at Thai Twin in Hyde Park is to die for.

Good/cheap Indian food ----try either Moti Mahal or Standard India on Belmont just west of North Clark. Standard India is my fave w/ a $6.95 all you can eat buffet every weekday starting at 5PM, really good food and very reasonable. BYOB though.

Good Thai Food--On the Dao on Ontario half a block west of North Michigan Ave. I eat lunch there 3-4 times a week. Good, cheap, fresh and service is superb.

Kosher(?) deli -- I don't know if its Kosher but Samuel's Deli on North Broadway just north of Roscoe St has great Reuben's and pastrami/salami sand- wiches. Also try Moe's on Rush for great matzoh ball soup.

The whole Andersonville area is jammed with tons of little known Middle Eastern restaraunts--avoid Reza's though service can be lousy and the food is somewhat overrated and boring.

There are lots of good Thai restaurants in Chicago, but one of my favorites is called Lana Thai and is on Broadway near the Belmont/Addison 'L' stops. The place is very slow because the cook makes each dish one at a time. If you order several dishes, you will be there for a while. But the food is absolutely magnificent. And they have the best "spring rolls"
-- unfried, soft -- of any place I've ever eaten.

Try "Mannys"... on Roosevelt Road (12th street), about 2 blocks east of Halsted. It's usually *jammed* at lunch time, it's cafeteria style, but you will find kosher food and quite the combination of patrons, also.
