Manny's cafeteria, on Jefferson and Roosevelt Road.

Sounds like Manny's; on Jefferson just north of Roosevelt (across the street from the big Chernin's Shoes). Awesome corned beef and pastrami sandwiches (make sure you like your pastrami _spicy_), potato pancakes, etc. The hot table is great too - short ribs, fried perch (or Alaskan walleye due to the perch shortage), and other 'comfort foods'. Come hungry, the portions are huge. Really old style deli - you go thru the cafeteria line and get a check from one cashier but you don't pay until you leave the restaurant.

Open Monday thru Saturday, early morning till 4 pm. Darned inconvenient, if you ask me.

Monster sandwiches is right. These people serve enough on one plate for two people to eat.

Actually, incorrect. I went there with my parents, (in their 70's), and my 14 year-old son. The single corn beef sandwich platter with potato pancake was enough for all FOUR of us. The bowl of kreplach soup didn't help matters.
