Carribean Buffet

Here's something for those who want to try Carribean food for the first time or for those who love the stuff already. El Dinamico Dallas on Howard Street (about two blocks west of Sheridan/one block west of the intersection with Jarvis) features a buffet every Friday and Saturday evening.

The buffet includes congri (beans and rice), curried chicken, jerk beef, whitefish (excellent!), plantains, and one other item (different on different nights). It also includes plantain bread (be sure to ask, it's not actually on the buffet line), fruit punch, and dessert (usually chocolate cake and carrot cake). The cost is $11.

The place is owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dallas who couldn't be a nicer couple. Parking can be tough to find, and the neighborhood is a bit dicey. Still, it's great food at a great price with nice people.
