I poked my nose in the window and it looked like a nice place to eat but I didn't see a menu. Other comments: If you are going to gamble at the boat Diamond Jo in Dubuque (20 minutes west on Rte at most) - then stop at: Dotties cafe, 504 Central, Dubuque 556-9617. - Best breakfast I've had for less than $5.00 - where all the locals must be eating since it was crowded at 10:30am. My wife said "my medium eggs were cooked perfect - mine too". A daily special or just good and cheap specials. On the way out of Diamond Jo you go have to go to 5th & Central to make a left back onto rte 20 - Dotties is right on that corner - make a left on fifth when going into the casino from rte 20). You gotta try that home cooking. Happy Joes on rte 20 just before downtown galena - according to the Trib - BEST pizza around. Sorry - keep driving to downtown Galena. Pehaps to Cannova's as mentioned above - another place i could not find right away. Fried Green Tomatoes - better make reservations BEFORE you go to Galena. We eat early - good thing since if we didn't take 5pm slot on FRIDAY for SATURDAY we would have had to wait until 10pm. What a great place - looks better than anything in downtown Galena. Web page at: www.friedgreen.com. Ok its Italian but the prices were a $ or 2 from the strip steak prices. Best steak I had outside the Chicago area ever. Very nice waitress, bartender, host, etc. Its a winner! Jakels - the German bakery downtown - a great almond coffee cake for Saturday morning to avoid the tourist rush into town. The place is loaded with great baked items. Best real chocolate donut i had in awhile. Sunday Brunch (only Sundays) at the Eagle Ridge resort was loaded with all the usual good stuff. Homemade waffles, cinnamon toast and omlets, plus turkey, beef and ham off the bone, plus much much more. Pricey at $15.95? you decide - i wasn't hungry all the way home. The only place rated at 4 dollar signs on the Galena websites. Green Fried had pricier items as well as other places? We did not eat at these places but their menu wasn't very interesting either: Benjamins, Market House Tavern and Cafe Italia - perhaps too many Italian places in the area. We stayed at LongHollow Point - Next to Eagle Ridge - I suggest you keep driving to a real resort like Eagle Ridge 3 miles down the road (booked when we tried to get a room). Pehaps when the rest of LogHollow Point is built in another 1-2 years it might be worth the dollars. Hope this info helps you on your visit there.
