I've thought about stopping there dozens of times but never did. Guess I missed my chance. Has anyone been to Troha's recently? I haven't been there for ages but I remember their shrimp was pretty good. The place has been in business over 75 years so they must be doing something right. Takeout only, if memory serves. Fried Shrimp
People in Chicago seem to be obsessed with fried shrimp served in "interesting" soundings, it may have all started with the long since departed Rocky's just off of Navy pier. I have gone on occasion to a shrimp stand on Division called Goose Island Shrimp House. The shrimp are huge, they have different sizes available, get the large ones. They are very tasty with not too much breading. They also have fried Catfish, the catfish is not de-boned and takes a little work to eat, well worth it. It goes without saying, though I will say it, Goose Island Shrimp is just a take out stand, no seating or any other amenities.
