The only place Mr. Filbert knew of off the top of his head was the N.N. Smokehouse on Irving Park. Not the world's greatest BBQ, but the fact that they serve Filbert's on draft is worth a trip right there.

Go. Run, don't walk, to S. Ashland. Better yet, bring a car with a big trunk. You'll be glad you did.

I don't know if anybody's mentioned, but they also had a number of other flavors, including ginger ale, pineapple, and blue raspberry (!). But the root beer is very nice, and Filbert's is a class act. You'll be proud to fill your fridge with their drinks.

Nice Work Eric! The next G******S is on me.

When last I went to NN it was still a considerable ride away. But now? A mere jaunt down to Irving. I thought their BBQ was gassy, a little overcooked, and like most northern BBQ, not woody enough. That was a couple of years ago and it's obviously time for a retest.

I wonder if Treasure Island could be persuaded to carry it on a limited basis?
