I always go to Hong Min (on Cermak about a half-block west of the Chinatown El stop). It's inexpensive, good, and I've never had to wait for a table there, even on the weekend. In addition, you write up your order and hand it in, rather than pointing at things on carts - this lacks the charm of the cart system but ensures you know everything that's available and that you don't have to wait forever for your favorite item to come around.

Dim Sum Suggestions???
Thanks for the info Dan! I will recommend Phoenix on Archer just W of Wentworth. It's my favourite place to eat. True story--I was famished on Memorial Day and at 1:45 decided to get dim sum. I jumped in the car and fought traffic all the way down, found a !! legal !! parking spot and got halfway up the stairs when I realised.... I left my wallet and checkbook at home!!!! AARRGGHH...
