My girlfriend and I went to Daruma recently, which is really my favorite place for Japanese food. Since she's a vegetarian, she asked for a California roll to be made without the bit of fish in it. In the past, this hasn't been a problem, but the waitress (I actually think she also owns or at least manages the place) didn't want to budge. I mean, they make it there at that instant, don't they? After a bit of bickering, the waitress said something to the effect of "Well, I'll ask the chef. The chefs get mad if we ask them to change things, so that's why this can be a problem." What is that about? "The chef gets mad?" Is the customer wrong sometimes? Greg
