We had a really nice dinner at D'Vine, a new restaurant that is flying just under the Chicago foodie radar, though not for long. The chef, G Finch, was the sous chef at the now closed Gordon and does upscale American contemporary, though it is really more what I would call foodie food.

To me foodie food is when you find calamari steak stacked like Lincoln logs with couscous and harissa oil on the same menu as a foie gras eclair, both fantastic appetizers by the way. Of particular note was the Brillat Savarin in the cheese selection, simply incredible flavor.

D'Vine seems quite trendy and serves late with the bar open until midnight, later on the weekends, though you should check before you go for a late night drink. They also have an excellent wine list.

D'Vine is next to Caf Absinthe and both the valet and restaurant entrance are in the alley just north of north avenue, which may be a little tricky the first time there.

Enjoy,
Gary
