We really enjoyed "312" in the Allegra hotel (old Bismarck) before the theater the other night.

Especially enjoyed the duck. Shrimp were a little underdone. Maple Crme Brulee was a bit of a disappointment. Other desserts tried at lunch were much better.

I really enjoy the feel of the place although the wait staff needs to tone back a bit on pushing the specials.

At lunch one day I asked about the price of a pasta special. The waiter pointed to the pasta dishes on the menu and indicated the special was "in that
range." Sorry, when I ask a price on one item I don't want a range.

Turned out to be especially relevant when we got the check. In a group we don't always check that closely but something didn't look right. The specials were billed several dollars higher than the "range" and another item was billed at $4.00 over the menu price.

Waiter claimed it was a computer error. (if so every customer who ordered any of those items was being overcharged that day - the items listed on the menu were correct.) Even after correction, the special pasta turned out to be $2.00 more than the "range"

No computer problems on our dinner check:

Duck,
Shrimp
One glass of Dubonnet,
One wine sampler (3 three oz samples)
One Crme Brulee
No sides or appetizers.

$64 plus tip.

I do like the feel of the place.. very comfortable. gets noisy at night but not harsh. Apparently no smoking at any of the tables except in front around the bar.

Will go back.. and will look over the tab.

Any other comments?
