We had a yen to see green growing things Saturday and visited the Lincoln Park and Garfield Park Conservatories. In between we stopped at Classic Desserts Cafe/Pastry Shop for brunch. It was very pleasant. Service was friendly and attentive. The coffee was tasty. The spouse ordered mango pancakes and I had a salmon/tomato/scallion/cream cheese omelet. The mango was a bit on the tart side, which added some zing to the hearty pancakes. The salmon omelet was low in grease (except for cream cheese) and high in taste. The bread basket of pastry bits was appetizing. Mozart Horn Concerto was the background music. This is quite a nice breakfast/lunch spot.

Thanks to Dawn Grace Russell for the recommendation.

In case you haven't visited them, the conservatories are filled with and amazing variety of mostly tropical green growing stuff. Lincoln Park is smaller but actually more visually interesting - the profusion of organic forms all growing on top of each other is remarkable. Garfield Park is maybe three times the size and has an entirely different feel.
