Too many great restaurants in Chicago to list. My favorites:

Eli's - steaks and cheesecake.

The Berghoff - fantastic German food, especially the sauerbraten.

Lawry's (sp?) - Prime Rib

And the deli on the top floor of Watertower Place.

Ooops, and one of only 13 five-star restaurants in the country - Le Francais in the suburb of Wheeling.

Round menu sounds like a little boutique-y place a little way out. Could it have been Hackney's. They have the best onion thing going - but it's an onion loaf more so than onion rings. Try them - in the northerly suburbs, several locations.

If you like it hot and spicy seek out Heaven On 7th. Absolutely the best Cajun/Creole I have eaten outside of N'awlins.

I'll join the small army of praise for Frontera Grill on N. Wells, where the grilled baby chicken is worth whatever they want to charge you (currently $19, and it's a big plate of food).

Out of the way on N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park is Clark St. Bistro, which is lovely. Also note that at the original Uno pizzeria on N. Wabash (and its sister Due a half-block north) the pizza really is far different and better than at the franchises: no greasy crust or prefab cheese.

Dunno about your rib/steak place, but I can recommend some places:

Heaven on 7th - 2 locations, but check for times. AWESOME Cajun/Creole...huge wall of hot sauces. I could eat there everyday for weeks and not get bored.

Ed Debevic's (several locations?) - dang good diner food in a fun atmosphere

Frontera Grill - fabulous regional Mexican, no reservations and it can get packed, but worth the wait. If you've got some $$$ to spend, their dining room right next door, Topolobampa, will be one of the finest dining experiences in your life.
