Just a quickie to report that if you're around 77 W Wacker (there's another one on the same street on a different corner) Caffe Baci is a pretty nice place to have lunch. It's cafeteria style in that you line up, pick out your food, pay and sit down, but the food is better than any cafeteria I've eaten in. The surroundings are quite nice, cool marble (even nicer when it's so damn hot) high ceilings and lots of art.

There is a pasta and gnocchi of the day from what I could tell, sandwiches, soups, and salads. I had the salad plate, where you can pick up to 3 salads which get served on a bed of lettuce for 5.75. The salads range from American salads to more Italianish ones. I had the cheese tortellini with pesto, which was surprisingly good, and even had a generous amount of pinenuts sprinkled through, a thoroughly American shrimp salad with a nice tangy mayonaise based dressing (not sweet) and insalata caprese, which is fresh mozzerella, tomatoes and basil. They all came very generously proportioned. The caprese could have been more aggressively dressed, I couldn't tell if it had any vinegar or oil at all, and the basil was plentiful but greenhouse grown, so not as basily as it could be, but hey, for that price in that location, I wasn't about to complain.
