I like Boston Blackies even though the food is so-so, the prices are high, and parking sucks.  It is just so adult in a world of jejune resturants, that it deserves to thrive.  Surely a place out of a Craig Rice novel.

That said, I went there once with the two kids (sans Mom).  The rare presence of kids in this beer and burger spot brought out the familial feelings in all the staff.  Needless to say, the kids ate up the attention more than their burger.  In other words, it was a good kid spot.  Beware, there is no kids menu.

"Downtown" is more like the "Loop" ...Boston Blackie's is off North Michigan.

ABOLUTELY GREAT and reasonably-priced burgers and other fare.  Quiet, on the darkish side, lots of darK wood.  Nice place with booths - not "trendy" - and parents can have a beer or cocktail with their dinner.

Worth a trip if you're in the area.
