There's a new place in Evanston called Panino's. It's on Central St. next to the Evanston Theatre. Mostly carryout but they have a few tables and counters too. I've been a Chicago beef person for many years and this place is right up there with the classics (Al's on Taylor, Roma's on Cicero, Mr. Beef on Orleans, etc.). They have a killer beef/sausage combo. They even call it the Big Al's combo. They also have some of the best pizza in town as well as a number of main course deli items. the best italian beef anywhere in city is near Evanston. It is called Max's Italian beef and is located on western ave just south of Peterson on far north side of Chicago. Been there for years and gets better and better.
