Bad Italian in McHenry

As those who have read this newsgroup for some time know, I am not all that keen to post a "negative" review of a restaurant. After all, we all have bad days. However, a recent visit to "Touch of Italy" has prompted me to make an exception.

I went with two business colleagues, one of whom is a vegetarian. I ordered a combination plate that included good (not great) lasagne, fair alfredo sauce, and extremely garlic'd linguini with shrimp. No real complaints, though.

One of my companions had a similarly unexceptional meal. Nothing horrible, but not one which he is anxious to repeat.

Then, we come to my vegetarian companion. His main course, although not supposed to include any sort of meat, had random bits of shimp or pseudo-crab here and there. This happened after the restaurant had been informed that he had found, in his lettuce salad, the raw tail from a shrimp.

They did take his entire meal off the bill, so they get credit for trying to make things right. But, ....

Anyway, none of us has plans to return.

The "Touch of Italy" restaurant is at 3910 Main Street, McHenry, IL 60050. Phone is 815-344-0220.
