Dixie Kitchen in Harper Court is very good for Southern/Louisiana food. Pizza Capri on 53d is good if you like the place (they have other locations). There are several Thai places. I think Thai Twee on 53d and Snail on 55th are the best. There's a new Korean place on 55th that is also fairly good. Piccolo Mondo is a good Italian place on 56th in the Windermere across from the Museum of Science and Industry. They have excellent tiramisu. To this excellent list, I would add Kikuya (a Japanese restaurant on 55th street); Cedars of Lebanon and Nile (middle eastern, on 53rd and 55th streets respectively); and Medici, a burger and pizza joint on 57th street, is an institution in the neighborhood. Salonica, on 57th again, is a diner with Greek flavor. -----

Salonica, on 57th >again, is a diner with Greek flavor. And to add to this list -- la Petit Folie, which opened just a month or two ago. I hardly ever eat at restaurants with linen tablecloths, so bearing that in mind, the food was well prepared, the prices are quite reasonable (entrees $15-$25), and the waitstaff is pleasant enough, though I did perceive a bit of inexperience. Maybe they were just having a bad night. I don't have an address or phone handy but they're in the Hyde Park shopping center at 55th and Lake Park.
