To all of you who love roasted chicken: DH and I have become addicted to the chicken sold by a little storefront restaurant, "Pollo ala Brasa" (also called "Flying Chicken Restaurant"). The owners are Columbian, and the principal food they serve is this mesquite grilled chicken (although there are some other side dishes like fried yucca). I've never had chicken like this before, and I'm a chicken guru! There's a sweet, salty, earthy-tasting sauce (which does not soak or overpower the chicken), the chicken is grilled to a crispy perfection, and the whole effect is yum city. There's also a neat selection of Mexican and Columbian beverages. On the down side, the menu is very limited (think: mesquite chicken), there are close to zero vegetarian choices, there are no desserts, and the restaurant looks pretty dive-y (but they do a lot of take-out). Another down is that although the restaurant is technically open until 9 or so, they frequently run out of chicken way before then, and will then just close up shop for the evening. Nonetheless, for cheap, fantastic chicken eats, this place can't be beat. Some prices: 1/2 chicken with rice and beans: 6.99 Fried yucca: 1.75 Arepa with cheese: 2.00 Family platter (1 and 1/2 chicken, rice, potatoes, and cilantro sauce): 14.99 Flying Chicken Restaurant 3811 North Lincoln Ave. Chicago, 773-477-1090 (owners speak limited english) Hours: until the chicken runs out

Larger menu, also does chicken. I believe 3900 N. Lincoln. It's on a NW corner. Across from the Salvation Army thrift store. Wish I could be more exact, I'm from the suburbs. If you want to expand your awareness of colombian food, also check "Las Tablas", (bring your own booze) about 2900 N. Lincoln or "Pueblito Viejo", about 5200 N. Lincoln.
