A few more for the list... Some of the Pakistani cab driver places are pretty interesting. Of the ones I wrote about a couple months ago, I believe only Baba's Place (223 W Hubbard) and Zaiqa (858 N Orleans) are open 24 hours. There are some similar places around Western and Devon. Several of the little restaurants that have pool tables are open 24 hours. Then there's Mike's Rainbow, another real cabbie hangout (with "American" food). It's at 708 N Clark, just south of Mango. Another more diner-like place is Don's Humburgers at 1837 S Western Av. They've been frying up the humburgers for quite a few years. There are several Korean places on Lawrence that are open 24 hours. One is Korean Restaurant (2659 W Lawrence). Another is the dumpling place with the picture of the elephant carrying a plate of dumplings on its trunk (no English signs, maybe ~3700?). I'll try to check address next time I'm in the area. And of course there's Jim's, on the corner of Halsted and Maxwell (1320 S Halsted), for the definitive Maxwell Street Polish or pork chop sandwich. A classic Chicago place. Disclaimer: I'm pretty sure all of these are open 24 hours but some may just be open "late." While each of these places has it's own charms, there aren't many I'd consider going to before midnight.
Chicago, IL
24 hour restaurants and diners
Kenny's Grill, at Lawrence and Austin, serves up some very tasty diner food 24 hours a day. Be sure to order the hash browns, and get them with onions. Delicious.
