Budapest restaurants?
>In an article Paul H. writes: >>A good friend of mine is going to Budapest soon and he has asked >>my advice about restaurants there. Paul Cyrano is a wonderful restaurant in Budapest. Obviously a lot of money has been invested in it by someone with substantial overseas experience, high standards and loads of imagination. The ceiling has been scooped out and a sweeping internal balcony put in, lined with organically sheped wrought-iron railings. Waiters and waitresses glide around in sweeping white robes with coloured tunics. The crockery, ornaments, wine glasses and even the tables themselves are an eclectic mix of beautiful pieces. The wrought iron "chandelier" is from the set of Cyrano de Bergerac (or so we were told)(hence the name of the restaurant). The food is just as inspired - but difficult to categorise. Continental-international is probably the closest I can think of. Varied and unsusual, and apparently changes quite often. And a very good wine list. But above all incredibly reasonable - largely because the currency is so week. A three course meal washed down with a bottle of Chardonnay and a couple of minerals costs about the same as one plate of bratwurst and sauerkraut in Hungary's wealthiest neighbour's capital. I'm afraid I can't describe exactly where it is, but it's just off the main shopping street in Budapest, between McDonalds and KFC (not that I ate at either...).
