You can get a seat right in front of the kitchen which is behind a glass wall so you can watch the chefs work their magics. Menu changes daily. Get reservations. Average desserts. While there I had a grilled shutome in an island bechamel over oriental vegetables. I started with coconut risotto with thai-spiced shrimp and local fish. Yum. My wife had a wild mushroom pizza baked in their wood-burning oven and started with cold miso/saimin soup. A Pacific Cafe in Kapa`a - excellent creative cuisine with terrible ambience. It's in a strip mall and it's one large open area so it's very noisy, but the food's incredible. Menu changes daily. Get reservations. Excellent desserts, too. While there I had a grilled papio served over a creamy risotto. I started with shrimp & salmon-stuffed gyoza in a teriyaki creme. Yum. My wife had chicken stuffed with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese and started with a wild mushroom soup.
Hawaii
Kauai restaurants?
pacific cafe ,toi's thai ,roy's ,and dondoro's italian at the hyatt are the best on the island.
hale akoni owner until 92 big blow
now ex-kauai homeownerSecond the motion re Pacific Cafe. Delicate touch with the food that was really a pleasant surprise given the inauspicious location in an ordinary-looking strip mall. Somewhat expensive, but it may well be the best place on the island -- or in the Islands.

There's a small Italian cafe-type restaurant (the name of which escapes me) in the same shopping center as Roy's, and it's very good, too.
