Any recommendations in Kauai

If you don't mind driving to the south end of the island, how about Roy's? Roy Yamaguchi has restaurants all over the islands and his newest is in Poipui on the Southern end of Kauai. My gastronomic goal in life is to f\get to all of Roy's restaurants! You can spend as little as $8 (2 years ago) on a brick oven pizza or as much as $18 on dinner specials. The Princeville hotel has special buffet nights so check them out as well. They are cheaper than the regular dining in the hotel which can be pricey. Have a wonderful time!!!
: In Hanalai, try Tahiti Nui for breakfast; good, reasonably priced. Not open : every day, so plan ahead. Tahati Nui also has a luau - very low key, very : family style and lots of fun! Wow, could this be the same Tahiti Nui that I recall from our wonderful vacation about 8-10 years ago? At that time, it was like a dark, rustic "dive" bar with several very "colorful" local drunks always to be found. It was a really fun place to get a few afternoon drinks, hear some crazy stories & marvel at the tacky decorations (large velvet painting over the bar). Just curious....... Thanks, Laurie

Didn't notice much in the way of drunks tho. I think they've cleaned it up somewhat, their clientele is quite sober. It's located right on the Hwy in Hanalai - can't miss it!

Sorry folks, but Tahiti Nui hasn't been open for breakfast for ages. And with all of Aunty Louise's assorted legal/financial problems, there's no guarantee the kitchen will be open for lunch or dinner or a luau from day to day anymore....sigh.... Definitely a wise idea to call ahead. But the bar is open every day, from about 11AM until midnight or later (depending on the crowd). The menu has been changing drasticlaly...no more local grinds, and quite frankly what's served is not all that good. But you can't beat the place for tropical ambiance. Stop in during the week around pau hana time - - 3 or 4PM - - grab a beer, sit on the lana`i, and watch the world pass through Hanalei! --auntie maria
