Last night, Feb 13, we were late going out so we decided to go to one of the NEW restaurants in Savannah GA Restaurant: Sapphire Grill Located: City Market, Historic Downtown Savannah GA Owner: No one knew appropriately Open Since: Jan 98 Food of "french style" (he says laughing facetiously) Ok - this is what we ordered My dear lady had Calamari Salad appetizer, followed by Mahi in a sweet brown sauce served with Rice I had a Salad followed by seafood fettucine, the only other thing on the menu (which had no prices on it) We shared a bottle of Beaujolais Villages (which was pretty good) The food was L O U S Y - and the Bill $27 for the pasta (about 6oz pasta, 4 mussels, 3-4 shrimp) $18 for the Mahi, $6.00 for the salads This place wasn't even a high class eatery - just average fo rthe area aesthetically Now if you are thinking of going there, seriously ask around for people that know restaurants in the area I used to own a restaurant with Ocean view, The Blind Pelican on Tybee Island GA, and I thought that our food was a little overpriced when we charged 11.95 for the same dish with more PASTA, I HEREBY STRONGLY WARN PEOPLE - PASS ON THE MESSAGE - DO NOT GO TO THE SAPPHIRE GRILL I will never go there again (the service wasn't bad though) From [email removed] Tue Feb 24 17:54:57 EST 1998 Article: 38006 of rec.food.restaurants
