Well depending on what you mean good. I think Atlanta restaurants are great, choice wise that is..

Chinese:

Oriental Pearl: Cantonese, pricey, good seafood. In Chinatown Mall on New Peachtree Rd. Honto: a former #1, has dropped due to inconsistencies and rude waiters. On Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, around the corner from Chinatown Mall. Food is still good. Pung Mie: Great for northern chinese food, dumplings, noodles etc. Cheap too. On Buford Highway, just north of Shallowford Road. Chinatown Mall food court: many different stalls, you order from any number of them and build your own smorgasbord.

Thai:

Lots of those, The King and I, Bangkok in Ansley Shopping Center, Phuket on Buford Highway. ETC. Phuket is the best, I think.

Brick Oven Pizza:

Rockys Brick oven Pizza. Tremendous pizza. Even though I love Chicago style, Rocky's satisfies my pizza cravings. Many locations, the original is on Peachtre Street, just north of the I-75/85 overpass.

Ethiopian:

We had a lot of these places a few years ago. The only I know of that is still open is in the Little Five Points area, on Highland. Don't remember the name offhand.

Vietnamese:

Bien Thuy on Buford Highway. Authentic vietnamese food, really good summer rolls.

If you have any more questions, email me.

For Thai, I'd recommend "The King and I" at either Ansley Square (Piedmont Rd. just south of Monroe Dr., about 10 blocks north of 14th St.) or the location on Peachtree Rd. across from the Brookhaven MARTA station (about 3 miles north of Lenox Square Mall).

For the pizza, you can't miss with Rocky's. I'm aware of only two locations: the Peachtree location (just north of I-85, at P'tree and 27th St.) as well as the North Highland location (just south of the intersection of North Highland and Lanier Blvd.).

If you want "local flavor", __STAY AWAY FROM "PITTYPAT'S PORCH" AND "AUNT FANNY'S CABIN"__. They're about as authentically "Southern" as McDonald's "McPizza" was authentically Italian. Try instead Manuel's Tavern (corner of North Avenue and North Highland), the Pleasant Peasant (Peachtree, 1 block south of North Ave.), or Big Ed's Pig-n-Pit (Marietta).

Good luck!

Phuket Thai is reputedly the best Thai in the city. Although not what you asked for, I would recommend Nino's (Italian, on Cheshire Bridge Road) and Indigo's (seafood with a Carribean twist, North Highland Ave.).

I dunno if it qualifies as brick oven pizza, but Fellini's in Little 5 Points has pretty good pie. Thin, lots of Oregano, Bass on draught.

What about the Blue Nile? Is it still around? Used to be good, in Virginia Highlands.

I always liked Chagio on Peachtree.

Tasty noodles.

Fellini's now have a few locations, the quality is varied, as expected. They have also opened a pasta place at where the Little Five Points Community Pub location.

They died a few years ago. I think a Thai place took over the building.

Chagio is good for lunch and sometimes dinner, but it has been americanized a lot. I do go there for the summer rolls, when I get a gluttony attack.
