For Paris try L'Oulette, 15 Place Lachambeaudie, 12e 75012 Paris 40 02 02 12 (metro Bercy) L'Oulette is off the beaten track to say the least, but nowhere is very far in Paris and this place is well worth the trip. The cuisine has its roots in Quercy, a region in the south west of France just south of Cahors.

The dining room is a large modern room with well spaced tables, some large plants and gourds scattered around. They do straightforward good value menus but we usually choose from the carte which always features several of their specialities such as squid strips and a few sliced potatoes in a light and delicate curry sauce, or shredded ox tail and mushrooms in a Savoy cabbage jacket and plenty of ox tail based sauce. Have the tourtiere for dessert.

Good wine list for reasonably priced SW France specialities. Try the red Irouguely (Sp?). Coffee is another speciality here, they list about 8 varieties.

On our last visit the total bill was 833 FF which included a 260 FF 1986 Pomerol and several other drinks.

Of the grander restaurants the Carre de Feullants (Sp?) featuring Alan Dutournier's SW cooking is the only place we have been to and would recommend, but expect to pay upwards of 1400 FF.
