I live in Sarasota. Bellini's on Main Street is pretty good. The problem here is Sarasota, is that it is difficult to remain "genuino". As soon as a place becomes popular, the "masses" ask for their salads before (not after) their meal. They start throwing french fries in with everything. I'm being a little sarcastic, but there is truth in what I say. They become somewhat americanized. There is an italian restaurant on Palm Avenue called Caragiulo's. The food is pretty good. It is kind of a local hangout. There are even a number of italians from northern Italy who frequent the place (if it means anything to you. You might try both. If you go to Bellini's tell Roberto that Mark and Novella sent you. Couldn't hurt. Two very fine restaurants are Michael's on East and The Colony. Euphermia Haye is an extraordinary restaurant located on Longboat Key. You better call you reservation in now. It is small and always booked. There is a chain in Florida called Shells - I only go on Tuesday night when they fly the lobster in from Maine. Sorry about the bad review of italian restaurants. My wife is from Italy and is an extraordiary italian cook (regione emila romagna, modena, bologna). I rarely go to italian restaurants any more. Try Bellini's on Main Street. Euphemia Haye is one of the best restaurants around - period. They are on Longboat Key. Did you get my email?
