Go to Ivo's on Longboat Key. Ivo Scafa is incredible. He make the best Duck and rack of lamb! My wife is from Bolgna and is an extraordinary cook in her own right. I took here there and she told me it is the ONLY authentic Italian cooking in town. Michael's on East is of course excellent. Euphemia Haye on Longboat is also excellent. Robert DeNiro like to go there when he is in town. I could think of more, but these are my three favorite. Mark Wilson "Curvware ... Making Flatware ... History!"

Bijou Cafe, Michael's on East, and First Watch - all in downtown Sarasota. On St. Armand's Circle we love Charlie Crab. On Longboat Key it Harry's Kontinental Kitchen and Eupehmia Hayes. vicki in n.o. > know! > > Carol Sadler > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > Carol Sadler > > [email removed] > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > >
Steve, There are a ton of great places in Sarasota. The Bijou cafe downtown (Pineapple Street?) is great. It's a converted gas station and for years has had really good, creative cooking. If you want a really cheap, really fun pla, try Gastronomia on Siesta Key (southernmost key off Sarasota...about 20 minutes from downtown). They don't take reservations, but they do serve wine and olives or other things to keep you occupied as you wait outside. it's a tiny place, but the walls are stacked with wine. Good price for the wine too.
