Subject: Re: S. Padre Island?

Haven't been to the island in a couple of years, but here's some that have been around a long time..

Blackbeards- informal, inexpensive. Good seafood and sandwiches. Big local
                tourist following.

Yacht Club- In Port Isabel, on the mainland, in a nicely restored older
Never been there but the seafood's said to be excellent. They own
a restaurant on the island as well. Unfortunately I can't think of
            the name at the moment.

Louie's Backyard- Don't know a thing about the food here, but a wonderful
place to have an afternoon drink and watch the sunset over
Laguna Madre Bay. Nicely landscaped grounds with caged parrots.

Ro-Van's- A local hangout. Homestyle food, big breakfasts. Does a lot of its
                own baking.

Sea Ranch- On our last trip to the island the best seafood we had was here.
Nothing real fancy, but definitely fresh and well-prepared.

Thanks, Chuck. Several people e-mailed me and requested that I post your
recommendations for Padre -- well, not yours specifically, of course! MW
