It is not fancy inside, but the food is superb and the service is very slow so you can have lots of time to talk. It is also amazingly inexpensive and has a strong following of regulars. There are tons of other nice places in Miami, though. If you want something more elegant I can recommend Las Puertas (148 Giralda in Coral Gables) which also has excellent food and is very cozy and Alcazar (7711 SW 40th st.) which has an excellent fixed-price dinner and a more grand presentation. Both are Spanish restaurants, not Caribbean or Cuban.
