During my extensive business travel schedule, I like to search out the best that I can find. The last three weeks have found me in the following cities at the following restaurants: Houston: Cafe Annie. Miami: Norman's Dallas: Star Canyon Don't ask which is the "best." When you get to this caliber, it's pretty much a toss-up. Norman's was truly outstanding and Norman Van Aken, himself, was wandering around talking to diners. I liked the dining rooms at Norman's and Cafe Annie the best. They were smaller and quieter than Star Canyon. But Star Canyon is truly stellar. I've been cooking out of Stephen Pyles cookbooks and it was a treat to finally eat at the restaurant. I've been to Cafe Annie several times and have never been disappointed. I usually am alone when I eat out on business and all three places treated me well, not like a leper. On my forthcoming agenda: the Flagstaff House in Boulder and one of my many jaunts to Santa Fe. Also, Phoenix and Vegas. Stay tuned.
