Whatever you do, stay away from Little Annie's. Unless you like ribs that are cooked until they are merely sawdust on a bone, don't try it. The service is good and some of the other stuff is ok, but I would say it is highly over-rated. The breakfast buffet at the Hotel Aspen is real good lite fare - bagels, toast, granola, cereals, and lots of fresh fruit. We also ate at a so-so Mexican restaurant there, but I don't remember the name of it. I guess my memories of Aspen are of s0-so food with great views of the mountains. Enjoy Aspen, though - it's a beautiful place!

A few restaurants in Aspen (moderately priced unless otherwise noted):

The Motherlode - great Italian food, great wine list, entrees $10-$20

Annie's - cheap grease, chilli dogs and brats too

Cooper Street Pier - a bar with great burgers, pool tables

Boogies - clothing + a diner-style restaurant, very good, moderately priced

** Woody Creek Tavern ** - my favorite, about 15 minutes from Aspen out route 82 toward Glenwood hang a right at Woody creek and a left after the bridge. It's a mile or so further. Great food, great beer, local atmosphere.

Flying Dog Brewery - more hype than it's worth.

The Red Onion - dates back to before the ski lifts, okay.

There are at least two Mexican eateries and Su Casa is better but neither is too great (Loretta's *was* excellent till it changed locations and went under).

Little Nell's (at the base of the Gondola) is great for Apres ski.

There are also some whose names I've forgotten:
good sushi place, good Thai place on the east side of town...

And nearby:
The Tower in Snowmass is good but a bit pricey,
The Sopris something near Glenwood serves a rich (fatty) but tasty menu with some game,

Email if you want more tidbits...
