I suggest The Little Russian Cafe on Pearl Street Mall. Get a table by the bay window overlooking the mall. Enjoy...

How much are you looking to spend?

At the high end, I would recommend Q's in the Boulderado (many consider this the best restaurant in town) or John's. Q's is American Regional and the menu is very interesting. The decor is casual (most of Boulder is casual) but quite romantic. John's is in a little house and the menu is Continental. It's very intimate. Based on food, I would pick Q's over John's. There is also the Flagstaff House. It gets mixed reviews with my friends. I've always had a good meal and excellent service there but some folks have found the staff to be pompous. The wine list is first class, as is the view. It sits about 1/3 the way up Flagstaff Mtn with incredible views of the city lights. The best views are from the tables near the windows, of course, but nearly all the tables have good views. During the summer you can eat out on the patio and it is a very romantic and special experience.

Q's is located at 13th St and Spruce in the Hotel Boulderado on the 2nd floor. John's is located at Pearl and about 23rd. The Flagstaff House is located on Flagstaff Rd; Baseline becomes Flagstaff Rd at the extreme western edge of town.

For more reasonable prices, I would pick Trios, a very nice wine bar/restaurant at Canyon and Broadway. They have a nice menu and an excellent selection of wine by the glass. Try to get a table by the south windows; they have an incredible view of the Flatirons. There is also Dandelions which is seriously trendy these days. They do American Regional food with ethnic and Southwestern influences. I've only eaten lunch there and it was pretty good. The chef at the restaurant I work at wasn't that impressed with the food when he ate there for Valentine's Day but overall, it gets good reviews. Nice space if a tad noisy. Dandelions is on Walnut between 9th and 10th.

If you have any other restaurant questions, drop me a line. We spend a lot of time talking about restaurants in the restaurant I work in!

I have not been there myself (our romantic getaways pretty much ended when we became parents) but have seen many reccommendations in guidebooks for the Flagstaff House - expensive, good food and service, fabulous view. --

I ate there a couple years ago and your description seems accurate to me. I also liked a place called the Cafe Europa, which was in a strip mall a couple miles from the downtown area.

: I ate at an Ethiopian restaurant in Boulder...I can't remember the name : though. It was something like "Mama ____'s restaurant" Look in the : yellow pages.

: I thought the food was delicious, though since it's the only ethiopian : food I've ever had, it's hard to compare. Warning: you eat with your : fingers, using a crepe-like bread to pick up your food.

Would have to rate "Laudisio's" as an all time favorite in Boulder. Italian food, excellent wine & atmosphere. On the North end of town off of 36 & the Diagonal. ****+
