My wife and I recently took our first trip to Victoria and had some very good dining experiences. Dim sum at Don Mee's was as good or better than any that we've had here in Seattle, though still short of our experience in San Fran. Had very good service, drinks and deserts at the Waterclub Restaurant (next to the Conservatory). Went back for a nice Sunday brunch. Had mediocre sushi and excellent sushi on the same night. Yoshi's was lacking in energy and quality. The rice was limp and tasteless, and the chef disinterested. Our piece of toro was served to us virtually at freezing temperature. We then went to Japanese Village, drank shochu and were thoroughly entertained by chef Sammy (sp?). Not to mention eating some gorgeous fish. We will certainly go back. But the highlight was a fabulous dinner at Camille's. (www.camillesrestaurant.com). I can't say enough about our dinner. I had the herb-crusted venison in gorgonzola demi-glace and my wife a special of swordfish with a wonderful chutney. And I whimsically asked for a desert of chocolate surprises with a carmel bird's nest and the chef made it for me! I just about died! Go here!
