During the recent Distributed Computing conference, which was held in the Coast Plaza hotel, I tried Croissanterie Paris, one block south of the hotel, and then ate there every day for the rest of my stay, sometimes several times a day. Their croissant Croque Monsieur makes a *formidable* breakfast. Their tortes and other pastries, including a sublime Mille Feuilles, are made with cremes chantilly that combine an amazing variety of liqueurs with real cultured creme fraiche - they have nothing in common with the insipid butter creams and cool whip so often encountered in pseudo-European pastries in North America. Just remembering makes me wish I were visiting Vancouver again, soon...
