Dining in Seattle:

Wild Ginger Asian Restaurant on Western Ave. downtown, entrees about $12-20. Some seafood dishes market price. Excellent food!! Ponti's Seafood Grill on the canal. Price range about same as Wild Ginger. Great Seafood! Ray's Boathouse on Shilshole Bay. Great Seafood. Prices about same as above. However, they also have a more casual cafe upstairs with a deck and some of the same food but less expensive. Great view and great food! Great Italian: Serafina on Eastlake Ave. Prices about same as above. Nice little courtyard to eat in also. Good Thai food: Tup Tim Thai, Thai Heaven, Mangoes Thai

See the Market, Pioneer Square. Go to Mt. Rainier if you have a car. August would be a great time to go. Drive out to Snoqualmie Falls (which incidentally is supposed to have a great Sunday brunch, although I haven't made it out there for it yet).

Vancouver:

Take the tram up Grouse Mountain. If you like gardens, go to Queen Elizabeth Park (which also has a great restaurant called Seasons) and Van Deusen Botanical Gardens. Go to Stanley Park (and maybe have lunch or dinner at the Teahouse in the park--great view and great food). Good Hungarian: Szasz (with good pastries)

Have a great time!

THE SALMON HOUSE ON THE HILL

But bring your AMEX you'll be needing it.

Great salmon barbequed over green Alder chips or salmon on a cedar plank. it's so good that it must be immoral

I spent a week in BC last September. Based on that limited experience, I can recommend two inexpensive ethnic restaurants in Vancouver: India Village (308 Water St., in the Gastown district across the street from the steam clock) and Saigon (1500 Robson St. at Nicola St. in the West End). The respective ethnicities should be pretty obvious. :-) Those meals really stand out in my mind (plus, while I was at the India Village, my waiter took off down the street after a couple of kids who'd shop-lifted from a neighboring store).
