In Seattle: Dahlia Lounge - Eclectic with a capital E. I have been a fan of the chef/owner here, Tom Douglas, since Cafe Sport (RIP). Each place he opens gets better and better. There his other place, Etta Seafood, that I can recommend.

In Vancouver: If you have the time to go to visit Vancouver Island (Victoria), Sooke Harbour House (Sooke, BC) may be the best restaurant in the NW. Otherwise, "Fish House in Stanley Park" can't be beat for beautiful surroundings (a Kanke restaurant - well known Vancouver chef Karen Barnaby
- great Dungeness crab and seared tuna), and "Seasons in the Park" in Burnaby also has a beautiful garden setting.

There is a new waterfront place called "Cardero's", down in Coal Harbour - (hot new hangout, great food, wonderful building in a marina setting - close to my house!) that is excellent for a more casual meal - big deck for a nice warm day.
