It's still there. We ate across the street at Le Continental (on St. Denis) and it was nice bistro fare. Not expensive, esp. after the exchange rate. On happening St. Laurent, we ate at Primadonna which was fun, one of the more expensive restaurants. Check out http://english.montrealplus.ca/Montreal/Restaurants_Bars/

L'Express- a genuine French bistro on Rue St. Denis and Lalou a more upscale bistro in the same area.

Restaurant La Bergamonte, 2101 rue Sherbrooke Est. 514 525-5738. Great food in the French tradition, cozy atmosphere, excellent service, very reasonably priced. We walked past this small place during the day, and had a feeling about it. We went there that night and thought it was great. Next visit to Montreal, we will be there again. One of my favorite places to eat in Montreal.
