Swatow. Spadina Avenue, east side. Just North of Dundas Street. Fukien cuisine. Dishes that on rice or on noodles are cheapest ($4.95 and up). Try the char cheung soup. It's pretty unusual.

Gold Stone Noodle. Spadina Avenue, west side. Just south of Dundas Street. Chinese and Hong Kong dishes. Lost of barbecue. Cheap.

These are my two current favourites. They are both plain places, cheap prices and consistently good. If you are looking for something upscale and you can entertain friends try:

Sian San. College Street, north side, west of Yonge Street. Thai and Chinese. Best hot and sour soup in the city, for my taste anyway. My favourite - shrimp and egglant. They're a bit timid on spices (except for the soup) so ask for extra if you like it hot.

Lee Garden (on Spadina next to the liquor store) is my favourite of all. However, note:
   (1) They are not open for lunch.
   (2) If you arrive after 6pm, be prepared to WAIT.

Try Beijing House on Gerrard east of Broadview for great Peking food. Also nearby, Pearl Court for good Cantonese, especially seafood.

There are tons of Chinese places on Spadina between Dundas and College. Just wander around and see what looks good.
