The Indian Rice Factory (located on Dupont) deserves strong consideration. Excellent food and good selection; seating has been tight, so call ahead.

I'm sure there are a bunch of outstanding Indian restaurants to be found on Gerrard St. E as well, but I'm not as familiar with the territory.

Cheers,

The Bombay Palace on Markham Road in Scarborough (at Painted Post, north of Lawrence) has a very good all-you-can-eat dinner buffet 7 days a week. I think it's $10.95 Mon-Thurs and $12.95 Fri-Sun. That should easily get you in at under $35 *per couple*. There's also a branch on Jarvis near King, but I don't know if they have a dinner buffet (they used to have a lunch buffet).

The food at Cuisine of India, on Yonge south of Finch is even better. If you don't indulge in many extras, you should be able to squeeze in just under the $35 per person limit.

The House of Bombay on Jarvis Street is where Tom Cruise has been seen eating Indian food.

I had no idea Tom Cruise was an expert on Indian Cuisine!

Bombay Palace on Jarvis just north of King is quite nice - a bit upscale for an Indian Restaurant. My favourite is Babur on Queen west of University for rich kormas and good tandoori. The Saavunth on Parliament south of Wellesley has very good Sri Lankan food and is unbelievably cheap (although it's not what you'd call fancy). Haandi is a nice choice in the Little India area around Coxwell and Gerrard.

All of the above serve a very inexpensive luncheon buffet. I would recommend skipping the buffet at Saavunth - it's so cheap anyway, and they don't serve masala dosai or string hoppers as part of the buffet.
